Kopftuch II
So viel zu der Idee, die muslimische Frau müsse
befreit werden und die Töchter trügen Kopftücher,
weil ihre autoritären Väter es vorschreiben:
"I was happy when Sanae began going to the
mosque," admitted her mother. "She began to
dress like an Afghani girl and covered her head
with a black veil, except for her eyes.
Eventually her sister Imane wanted to do the
same. I was happy, because I knew that religion
would give them an organized framework. At
first they still attended school, but because
of the physical education lessons, they left.
Because they didn´t want anyone to see their
feet and their hands. I told them that I
couldn´t support them, and I arranged work for
them as maids. They earned 250 dirham [about
$25] a month, and that was enough for them. And
then they began attending the mosque almost
daily, and meeting with the bearded clerics. If
I could, I would kill them. They call
themselves Muslim Brothers, but how do they
dare to approach 13-year-old girls? They
manipulated my daughters and brainwashed them.
The bearded men should be put into prison, not
my daughters."

Safia told journalists that she feels the
Islamic organizations in the country stole her
children. "All my troubles began on the day
that Mohammed, my eldest, burned his jeans and
put on an Afghani robe and leather sandals,"
she said, barely fighting back her tears. "I
saw my son change before my eyes, without being
able to do anything. Every time I said to him,
Mohammed, what do you need this for? What´s
your problem? He would say that a true Muslim
must tie himself to Islam and honor the five
principles of Islam. He even pressured me to
put on a veil."
