Report: U.S. troops in Iraq find documents and
maps on Israel
By Haaretz Service
U.S. troops in Iraq searching for a seventh
century Talmud discovered intelligence documents
and maps pertaining to Israel, according to a
report in the New York Times.
The report states that soldiers who had been
searching for nuclear, biological, and chemical
weapons in recent months, found maps documenting
terror attacks against Israel, dating back to
1991. The troops also found a map highlighting
sites hit by Scud missiles during the 1991 Gulf
War.
The New York Times reported that soldiers found a
model of the Knesset building, as well as models
of other official buildings in Israel. A model of
downtown Jerusalem was also found, as were
satellite pictures of the nuclear reactor in
Dimona. The paper quoted U.S. military officers as
saying that the findings were significant, but
were not evidence of Iraq´s links to terror
attacks against Israel.
The paper also reported that the soldiers found an
intelligence memo from 2002 describing an offer
from an African country to sell uraniam and other
nuclear material to Iraq. According to the report,
the memo states that Iraq turned down the offer
due to restrictions resulting from the sanctions
imposed by the United Nations.

Ach nee. Und ich dachte, der Irak hätte kurz vor
Fertigstellung der Atom-Bombe gestanden...
